Meet NetActuate at All Things Open 2025 in Raleigh Oct 13-14!
With BGP anycast, recursive lookup requests made by end users will be resolved by the authoritative DNS server closest to them.

Companies face challenges managing authoritative DNS due to increasing traffic loads, complex hybrid environments, and rising cyber threats like DDoS and DNS hijacking. Maintaining global availability, low latency, and accurate zone replication across regions is difficult. Misconfigurations, outdated infrastructure, and lack of redundancy often lead to outages or security vulnerabilities, impacting reliability and trust.
With BGP anycast, recursive lookup requests made by end users will be resolved by the authoritative DNS server closest to them.
Many registrars, enterprise providers, and hosting companies provide authoritative DNS services that host the DNS records for top, second, and third-level domains, as well as deeper subdomains. By anycasting their infrastructure, authoritative DNS providers can provide fast and reliable DNS resolution for their users. Using anycast, recursive lookup requests are resolved by the nearest authoritative DNS server, ensuring the lowest possible latency.
If all authoritative servers fail, the domain becomes unresolvable, causing service outages. Having redundant servers and failover mechanisms is critical.
